Chelveston Energy Park, Northampton
At a Glance
Chelveston Renewable Energy Ltd was granted planning permission by Northamptonshire County Council in December 2008 to build and operate a Biomass Plant based on Anaerobic Digestion able to process up to 48,000 tonnes per year of materials.
The project for Wykes Engineering, installed on a private network, consisted of a wind farm, solar farm, anaerobic digesters and biomass generators. As a result the site, originally a wartime RAF base near Rushden, will provide much needed power back into the grid.
As the leading independent connections provider for large scale solar energy sites, Dragon IS supported the project in a number of ways. We connected the wind turbines laying the cable for the photovoltaic panels ready for connection and installed over 6,000 meters of 33kV cable, from the substation to the wind turbines.
