As an Independent Connections Provider, typical project values range from £50K to £4 Million.  The Company specialises in the new connections of major residential, to both electric and dual fuel, industrial, commercial and renewable projects.  The Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and planning associated with contestable connections for 11/33kV installations and processes.  The candidate will also have extensive knowledge in a technical capacity of the power distribution industry with a key focus in protection and commissioning disciplines.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Undertake design and planning associated with contestable connections for 11/33kV installations
  • Design to engineering directives, engineering standards including G81, ENA, and BS7671
  • Comply with design assurance and audit processes and the requirements of the designer as determined by the CDM Regulations
  • Knowledge of Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations (ESQCR) and NRSWA

Technical Engineer – Knowledge

Qualification Min HNC Electrical Engineering – Power Distribution
Electrical power system and/or plant design
Electrical power system protection
Electrical protection design and analysis software
Power distribution control/SCADA
Interpretation of client’s technical needs and requirements
Transformers
Switchboards and switchgear
Power cables
Technical leadership
Preparation of proposals
Project management
Distribution engineering experience in 11/33kV

Essentials

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a DNO/IDNO or ICP
HNC or higher in Electrical Distribution Engineering
Distribution design software experience
AutoCAD
Power system analysis software
Microsoft Office – Word/Excel/Project
Working knowledge of HV distribution systems
Understanding of site environment and working practices
Strong interpersonal skills

Desirables

Knowledge of Power system analysis software such as (PSS SINCAL, IPSA, DigSilent, Amtech) or similar
Renewable energy experience

HOURS OF WORK:
40 hours per week
