Trainee Tendering Engineer

A Trainee Tendering Engineer is sought to join an expanding team to assist in the tendering of new electricity and gas connections. This is an excellent opportunity to train within a specialist engineering role. Accuracy and attention to detail is required, together with good IT skills. The ability to work to tight deadlines in the production of quality proposals is key. Experience of working in CAD 2D would be an advantage.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Draft sales proposals for new enquiries / clients and provide technical advice as required
  • Assist in assessing the extent of the works required
  • Apply for non-contestable quotes and points of connection to existing networks
  • Assist with the project cost options to advise clients regarding different possibilities
  • Work closely with clients, the business development staff and sales managers
  • Liaise effectively with suppliers
  • Develop and maintain key client relationships
  • Provide the required level of contract management
  • Ensure strict compliance with all Quality Management Systems and Safety Procedures
  • Provide technical knowledge, advice & assistance to colleagues
  • Ensure strict compliance with all Company Policies & Procedures

Essential Criteria:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English, grades A-C
  • Commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to develop and maintain key customer relationships
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook

Desirable Criteria:

  • C&G 2339-45 L3 Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • A-level passes in Mathematics, English and/or Science
  • Experience within the transmission and distribution industry would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of the IEE regulations and DNO Engineering Codes of Practice
  • Experience/knowledge of CAD 2
  • Knowledge of Quality & Management Systems
  • Commercial awareness including contract law and risk management

40 hours per week
